Freeman's 19 May 2015 auction English & Continental Furniture & Decorative Arts achieved over $1.2 million, in large part due to the success of the continental decorative arts offered. The top lots of the day included a Monumental Napoleon III bronze twin handled urn on rouge griotte marble pedestal from the estates of Henry D. and Gloria Paul which achieved $131,000, a fine and large gilt bronze and fleur de peche marble centerpiece by Robert Freres which achieved $62,500, and a fine bronze entitled ‘La nature se dévoilant devant la science’ after Louis-Ernst Barrias (French, 1841-1905) which achieved $35,000. French furniture from the 19th century also continued to have a strong showing, including a fine Louis XV style bonheur du jour attributed to Joseph-Emmanuel Zweiner sold for $45,000 and a Fine Louis XVI style gilt bronze mounted marquetry inlaid vitrine on stand by Gervais-Maximilien-Eugène Durand which achieved $30,000.
