Memorial Scholarship Established in Honor of James Buckley

James “Jim” Buckley  was a stalwart of a generation of general appraisers who provided the backbone of the auction industry. Mr Buckley 's knowledge of the antique world was encyclopaedic. He worked at Freeman 's for more than 30 years and was in every sense a gentleman who will be greatly missed by all who knew him in the world of art and antiques on both sides of the Atlantic. Mr. Buckley, retired Executive Vice President, passed away in September 2015.In celebration of Mr Buckley's life and career, an eponymous scholarship for personal property appraisers focusing on professional development has been established. The 2016 recipients will be able to attend select symposiums at Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library where he donated his professional archives and catalogues prior to his retirement.Scholarship donations may be made to:The James E. A reception will follow in the parish hall. The interment is private. He is survived by his wife Sheila Margaret Sutton of Chestnut Hill, his son Phillip, and his brother Arthur and his wife Irene of Chicago.
