Rolex GMT-Master Ref.1675 'Gilt Dial Pointed Crown Guards' c. 1965Lot 124: Rolex GMT-Master Ref.1675
One of the most iconic Rolex models, the Rolex GMT-Master Ref.1675 was developed in 1954 in cooperation with Pan Am Airlines. It was designed specifically for pilots  who wanted to be able to keep track of multiple time zones during transatlantic flights. The name ‘GMT’ comes from Greenwich Mean Time, which was formerly used as the international civil time standard. The reference was produced with different distinctive characteristics and variations of the dial printing, the shape of the crown guards, bezel insert colors, and the size of the hands.
