Freeman’s is proud to present a collection of property from The Clay Studio in its October 8 Design Sale. Since 1947, The Clay Studio has served Philadelphia as a nonprofit educational institution, gallery and studio dedicated to the teaching, creation, support and promotion of ceramic arts.
The Clay Studio was recently honored with the generous support of the Responsive Grant from the Henry Luce Foundation’s Program for American Art. As a result, the nonprofit launched The Clay Studio Collection Project, documenting and researching objects from its collection of contemporary ceramic art. With the launch of The Clay Studio Collection Project, pieces from the establishment’s over 600-piece collection were refined and brought to Freeman’s, where sale proceeds will benefit the housing and care of its Permanent Collection.
Works offered consist of emerging and established artists who served as Guest Artists-in-Residence, Resident Artists and teachers at The Clay Studio over the last 25 years. Pieces will be on display beginning Wednesday, Oct. 4. Freeman's will host a Design Sale Preview Party with remarks from The Clay Studio curator and educator Jennifer Zwilling on Thursday, Oct. 5 from 6-8pm.
