Freeman’s November 1 Fine Jewelry sale explores the wild side this fall with several animal-inspired brooches with whimsical appeal.

Lot 95 | A mother-of-pearl, diamond and eighteen karat white gold 'Papillon' clip brooch designed by Van Cleef & Arpels, a maison known for its nature-inspired pieces. The brooch was designed as a butterfly with polished mother-of-pearl wings, highlighted with a round brilliant-cut diamond abdomen; signed 'VCA', 'CL 8049', with French assay marks; accompanied by a signed box. 

Lot 88 | A diamond, gem-set and eighteen karat gold brooch. This piece was designed as a dolphin with circular-cut sapphire body; estimated total sapphire weight: 3.50 carats, accented by circular-cut diamonds and emerald-set eyes. 

Lot 90 | A diamond, ruby and eighteen karat gold brooch by Tiffany & Co. This was designed as a sea urchin with a textured body, decorated with a ruby and diamond flowerhead. 

Lot 3 | A enamel and diamond brooch designed as a Scottie dog with circular-cut pavé-set diamond head, legs and tail, accented by red enamel collar and ruby eye, mounted in platinum. 

Lot 120 | A diamond and eighteen karat gold brooch designed as a frog, with pavé-set diamond and colored diamond body (diamonds not tested for origin of color) with green gem-set eyes; estimated total diamond weight: 2.70 carats. 

Lot 32 | A diamond, gemstone and platinum peacock brooch set with old European and single-cut diamonds; estimated total diamond weight: 3.10 carats, accented by rubies and green gemstones.
