Samantha Sisler serves as Cataloguer and Department Administrator in Freeman’s Books, Maps & Manuscripts department. She joined the department in 2016 as an intern and now works full time at Freeman’s. Samantha could not be more thrilled to be spending her days surrounded by such rare and exciting texts. A graduate of Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA, Samantha double majored in European History and Business Administration and was fortunate to study abroad in both Paris and Rome – the perfect academic storm to prepare her for her future in the auction world.
An avid lover and student of history her whole life, Samantha first became exposed to the world of art and antiques as a collections intern in Washington and Lee’s Reeves Center. The Reeves Center boasts one of the world’s largest collections of Chinese export porcelain. From working with teacups owned and used by our founding fathers to handling and researching the autograph letters of the same, Samantha has found a wonderful home in the Books Department.
An avid reader her whole life, Samantha enjoys revisiting old favorites and finding new ones at the suggestion of her colleagues. She spends her time watching historical documentaries, exploring Philadelphia (her favorite city in the world), traveling up and down the East Coast, and of course, reading.
